Charlotte Eder grew up in a small community in northern Sweden, in a family where art and culture were an important part of everyday life. Her father Josef, who was a skilled artist, left Austria for Sweden in 1938, to avoid being drafted into the Second World War. He worked with sculpture and reliefs in wood. As a child Charlotte was very involved in his creative work. Starting to paint was therefore a natural step for her. However, this happened somewhat later in her life; after establishing a professional career in international business development and export. Charlotte is autodidact and has been an artist for about twenty years. Her innate drive is to constantly learn, try something new and enjoys mixing different mediums in different ways. This creates unusually vibrant colors and glow. She claims to be extremely quality-conscious and carefully chooses her art materials. Over the years Charlotte has developed a unique technique colorizing photographies which provides a three-dimensional experience and a lot of additinal mystery. She is very involved in her motifs, which usually depict landscapes and nature with a focus on trees, sky, water, stone, flowers and the occasional bird. Her influences are many; for example, Japanese-Asian art and aesthetics, the Düsseldorf School, the naturalist movement and the Impressionists. Charlotte's paintings are rich in colour and detail, darkness and light. She often mentions her constant longing for nature and that she therefore tries to get as close to the subject as possible during the creative process. This longing creates a special expression in her paintings. Perhaps we can call her both a landscape painter and a colorist. Charlotte has had a large number of solo exhibitions in Finland and Sweden and is represented by a couple of international online galleries. The spring and summer 2024 was fully booked. In May two solo exhibitions. One at Galleriet in Mariehamn, Åland and one in Luleå, Sweden. During the summer she had two solo exhibitions and one group exhibition in Stockholm. And last; in July she was selected to participate in a group exhibition at Gallery 1 in Skellefteå, Sweden. The interest for her unique expression and artworks is definitely growing.
