“I am driven by an insatiable need to explore different techniques and ways of portraying the forest and nature. Even though I live in a rural area of Swedish Lapland, I can never get close enough to nature.” Charlotte Eder grew up in a small community in northern Sweden, in a family where art and culture, art and politics were an important part of everyday life. Her father Josef, who was a skilled artist, left Austria for Sweden in 1938, to avoid being drafted into the Second World War. He worked with sculpture and reliefs in wood. As a child Charlotte was very involved in his creative work. Starting to paint was therefore a natural step for her. However, this happened somewhat later in her life; after establishing a professional career in international business development and export. She is very involved in her motifs, which usually depict landscapes and nature with a focus on trees, sky, water, stone, flowers and the occasional bird. It's been a long time since she has been painting faces and bodies. Because of traumatic experiences she was first unable to paint faces and later on not even human bodies. So100% nature and not a human as far as the eye can see. Charlotte is autodidact and has been an artist for about twenty years. Her innate drive is to constantly learn, try something new and enjoys mixing different mediums in different ways. This creates unusually vibrant colors and glow. She usually works with several artworks at a time, preferably in different techniques. Quality is important and she carefully chooses all art materials. Over the years Charlotte has developed a unique technique colorizing photographies by hand which provides a three-dimensional experience and a lot of additional mystery. Her paintings are rich in colour and detail, darkness and light. She often mentions her constant longing for nature and how she tries to get as close to the subject as possible during the creative process. This longing creates a special expression in her paintings that usually have touch av impression and surrealism. One can asume that all her lfe experiences shines through. Influences are many and she finds inspiration anywhere. Within Art ie Japanese-Asian art, the Düsseldorf School, the naturalist movement and the Impressionists. Over the years Charlotte has had a large number of solo exhibitions in Finland and Sweden and is represented by a couple of international and Swedish online galleries.
