Born in Japan. Drawing on the methods of conceptual and minimal art. My practice is an act of perceiving all phenomena as a continuum—an ever-shifting gradation—and of generating latent possibilities of harmony within it. By working with a range of materials—acrylic paint, ink, mineral pigments, metal, driftwood, wax, glass, clay, moss, and light—I reflect the inherent laws and transformations of each substance, revealing new relationships that arise in the interstices between matter and spirit, order and becoming. These materials and processes resonate with the Japanese sensibility toward mono—the awareness of things—and with an aesthetic that finds beauty in imperfection, while also engaging with the multiplicity and material phenomenology found in post-20th-century contemporary art. For me, creation is not an act of projecting personal will, but a record of a process that visualizes the harmony emerging through interaction with the inherent forces and phenomena of the world. All phenomena exist as gradations, and each work becomes an attempt to capture a transient aspect—an ephemeral form—within that continuous flow.
