'Contact' This is a new media digital abstract combining many layers - with each layer reacting to the one below. I have worked with some of my favourite digital tools creating both organic and hard-edged geometric shapes. I've blurred, duplicated, flipped, stretched, coloured and arranged the pieces until I found a composition that feels strong, balanced and intriguing. Image size is 28x20 inch (71.12x50.8cm) Giclée print with 2 inch (5.08cm) border for framing on museum quality Epson Cold Press 340 gsm matte fine art paper. Signed, dated and numbered on the back of the print. Strictly limited to an edition of 5. Your print will be produced to the highest standards, proofed, checked and packed in a protected tube. Comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity, which guarantees your print is a work of art, only available in the editions stated. Edition of 5. I want the viewer to feel the energy and spontaneity I felt while painting this - and to enjoy the many small details as well as the whole.

Hi, I'm Mary Ness. I am happy you are here to see what I've been up to. I'm an abstract expressionist artist and designer living and working just outside Toronto, Canada. My creative journey, with all of it's twists and turns, goes back to my early childhood. There I was, little me, lying belly down on the kitchen floor with my coloring book and crayons. I was caught in a sunbeam coming through the window - and that's when the magic began. I paint with both traditional media such as acrylics and/or oils and cold wax, mixed media collage as well as painting with digital tools such as Photoshop and Corel Painter. Often I combine digital and analog to achieve my goal. Sometimes a painting is finished quickly and other times there are many layers and visits to the mirror with the painting, always searching for that elusive moment when I can say, that's it, I've got it! I want the viewer to be drawn in, to see the layers, the brushstrokes - to feel the energy and emotion I experienced while making this piece of art.
