About The Artwork
This is a collection of paintings that combines watercolor, specialty paper, tea bags, newspaper, texture mediums, sand, ink—you get the idea. This particular piece has a background of patterned tissue paper and is topped by hand drawn designs on pieces of paper that is cut to the contours of the image and glued down. Then the whole piece is lightly coated with Glossy Gel to preserve the integrity. I used Strathmore Bristol 400 Series 140 lb paper, and the original is 15 x 20 inches. The media are repurposed Ciele Athletics tissue paper, specialty paper and glossy gel.

Always an artist in various media, I began painting late in life and have little regard for rules in the creative process. Art represents freedom. I am for the most part untrained and strive to preserve my own artistic vision. Texture is my passion, but I enjoy experimenting with lines, repetition, and layering. My art spans a wide variety of subjects and techniques. That's what keeps me fresh. Occasionally, I become very involved in color, but I am also at home playing with only shadow and light.
