My artistic practice is centered on painting and drawing, activities that are fundamental and constant in my life. My training was forged under a solid inheritance of Mexican visual arts: I studied drawing for ten years in the workshop of the master Gilberto Aceves Navarro and complemented my vision with courses taught by essential artists such as Gabriel Macotela, Germán Venegas, Tomás Gómez Robledo, and Óscar Bachtold, among others. This technical and historical rigor is reflected in my work, which dialogues with a pictorial tradition of raw honesty and materiality. I find resonance and inspiration in the powerful figuration of artists like Frank Auerbach and Lucian Freud, the visceral quality of Leon Golub, and the conceptual approach of Martin Kippenberger and Kurt Schwitters. These influences guide my exploration of the body, emotion, and human condition, often through dense textures and compositions that defy the merely decorative. In addition to my studio practice, my understanding of art and culture has been nurtured by my experience in cultural institutions, having worked at the Franz Mayer Museum. Through my painting, I seek to reveal the complexity of the inner world, a process I consider both a personal necessity and an act of resistance and intellectual honesty.
