My work aims to showcase the ephemeral quality present in human life and in nature. The cyclical manner in which we die, regenerate and are reborn feels analogous to the way I draw, as my memory and imagination are expressed and erased on the canvas, leaving behind traces and blending with other sha...

Contact us.Jangmee Park explores mixed mediums, including water-based materials, drawings and collage, to communicate her inner self and the way in which reality is experienced by both the conscious and the subconscious. In her paintings, the intentional and the unintentional are mirrored by the interplay of realist and abstract images. These mediated images act as a screen upon which the viewer is able to project their own subjectivity. Jangmee’s paintings are by no means an end, but rather an intermediary process: a joint journey of self-discovery between her and the viewer.
Jangmee grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where she became deeply connected to nature and music, both of which serve a critical purpose in her art. After graduating with a B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Ewha Women’s University in Korea, she moved to Canada in 2000, where she continues to create drawings and paintings.
Jangmee currently lives in Mississauga, ON and is a resident artist at the Living Arts Centre. She is a member of the Korean Art Society of Canada and the Ontario Society of Artists. Her works have been showcased in over 40 solo and group exhibitions in Korea and Canada since 1992. In 2024, Jangmee won The Winner of the Established - Visual Arts Tradional Forms Award, as well as the 2024 Civic Award of Recognition in the City of Mississauga.
