About The Artwork

This painting belongs to a small series of 5 pieces entitled "Il Sole è cieco", that is to say "The Sun is blind". As we can see, the two characters are intertwined like a couple of lovers, they form a duo, they are linked together (Due in Italian). But their embrace does not only concern the arms and the body, it also includes the two heads which seem connected in the same block of stone. No visible face, just two inseparable heads which suggest that love is blind and constitutes a link as vital as it is indestructible. If the title is in Italian, it is in homage to the writer Curzio Malaparte who wrote Il Sole è cieco. This painting is a unique piece created in mixed technique on canvas combining photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (multiple transparent glazes, glossy varnish and relief squares). The work is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 47 x 37 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
