Valeria Sanzharovets is the artist behind CARRARA. She discovered art from a young age. Graduated from the Bachelor program in Interior Design in Latvian University, she worked closely with residential and commercial projects. Following her passion for the art and interior design she continued to work on the everyday objects while discovering human nature. Since a few years, her artworks range from bold statement makers to subtle accents. Additionally, Valeria works on a commission basis, creating bespoke pieces tailored to the specific needs and visions of our clients' projects. ‘With each of my artworks, I aim to open a chapter of the viewer's personal story. I will never know what this story is about, and I will never hear it, but my mission is to rejuvenate memories and arouse feelings. I invite viewers to imagine, reminisce, and look inside.’ When Valeria is not making art, she is collecting interior design icons. ‘When I talk about iconic design pieces, I mean influence, innovation, and timelessness. Our studio is filled with vintage pieces hunted and collected from all over the world—my favorites being the Wassily by Marcel Breuer from the 1960s and the anniversary Tizio by Richard Sapper’ - Valeria says. She loves the idea that we shape our spaces and our spaces shape us. ‘I believe that our spaces need to be flexible and adaptable to change and growth with their owners. The use of an ascetic color palette in both my art and studio space deeply resonates with my inner self. It provides a sense of openness and clarity, freeing up mental, emotional, and spiritual bandwidth without overwhelming me. I am constantly changing the interior of our studio, making it flexible. Similarly, in my art, color takes a backseat to other elements.’ Shape, rhythm, and proportion are prioritized, with color serving as a complementary factor. Focus lies in the emotions evoked by Valeria’s art, and the choice of color is intended to enhance this experience. Ideally, viewers are so engrossed in the patterns and rhythms of the artwork that they hardly notice the specific colors employed. Instead, they are effortlessly drawn into the depths of the piece, exploring the narratives it conveys. ‘As a passionate kinesthetic learner, tactile experiences are vital to me—they're how I grasp concepts and convey my thoughts. Touch isn't merely interaction; it's my unique form of expression, with textures serving as narrative tools.
