Icons are images that have the power to represent with a few simple traits, an entire chain of data that our brain processes and elaborates when it sees the corresponding icon represented. Icon of the orisha god Eleggua. Orishas are deities of the Yoruba religion who are believed to have acted as intermediaries between the gods and men. The Yoruba religion has its origins in West Africa. Much of their believers were used as slaves in the Americas, and were forbidden to have a belief of their own, for this reason Africans disguised their gods as saints of the Christian religion. But when freedom came, these ancient forces that had never died, flourished vigorously, not only in communities of African origin, but everywhere in the world. Elegguá owns the roads and destiny. Is the one who opens or closes the path of life, prosperity, luck, happiness or misfortune and can even determine about the influences of other orishas; he is very naughty and his name means "the prince messenger". He's a being who's part of "the first" and he's a warrior. He is one of the beings who possesses the most authoritarian power over other orishas. Almost all orichas by obligation must respect Eleggua, and can be associated with a benevolent or evil figure. It might seem strange that such a powerful and feared orisha, first to be invoked in every ceremony and last to leave , is represented as a child. The ancient African tradition through its wisdom, is telling us that fate is like a child: unpredictable. The same fait that governs us all and that cannot be avoided but only governed through the agreement between him and our will. Why buying Elegguá ? To activate in your psyche, through a psychomagic process, the power of taking risks. Make us reckless and unpredictable. Keep in us that pure spirit, that child spirit, that curiously explores the world without looking for his own group, keeping above events. Elegguá's dress is divided into two, half red and half black, because elegguá has overcome dualism. He can stay on the right and stay on the left. He can choose peace, he can choose war. Ellegguá walks on the edge of opposites. And it's impossible to know which side he's going to choose until he chooses it. Eleggua is the coin spinning in the air, just a moment before showing us which side will win .He' s a sort of Joker, of primordial Chaos. And he will give wisdom, abundance and fun to those who understand his nature. But it can bring misfortune, poverty and sadness, to those who do not understand it.
