About The Artwork
I enjoy the repetition of the forms which we see in a Matisse painting--here I employ the bikini top and the palm plant as recurring heart shapes which, I hope, suggests the oasis of a vacation and also love and harmony. The abstract-expressionist movement and the California figurative painters show up, here. I do allude to David Hockney's "splash" in the swimming pool.
