Created using a series of images originally captured on a film camera, this art piece transports you to the eerie setting of an abandoned prison and a Slaughterhouse at the historic Lorton Prison in Virginia. The ghostly figure of the girl, delicately portrayed, evokes a sense of vulnerability and resilience simultaneously. What makes this artwork truly exceptional is the incorporation of transparent film and a found X-ray slide, adding layers of depth and symbolism to the piece. These elements not only enhance the visual appeal but also serve as a metaphor for my personal journey through depression.

I am Amadi Greenstein, a textile and multimedia artist currently based in Palo Alto, California. With a passion for weaving, my artistic journey is driven by a curiosity for personal identity and philosophical theories of the Sublime. Through my practice, I explore profound questions about self and existence, using various mediums such as transparency film, natural and synthetic fibers, and found objects. My experimental practices of mindfulness and approach to nostalgic concepts infuse my pieces with depth and meaning. Through vibrant colors, exquisite patterns, and captivating textures, I express my unique perspective, inviting viewers to engage with my artistic narratives. I am experienced working on floor looms and table looms which allows me to create original weavings with precision and skill. Inspired by my dreams, psychological theories, and personal experiences, my work is an exploration of the human condition. My art invites viewers to delve into their own emotions and thoughts, provoking a sense of reflection and introspection. My body of work reflects my commitment to pushing artistic boundaries and challenging traditional notions of textile design.
