Heron Reflection Artwork

The great blue heron is a majestic and iconic bird, symbolizing the solace that comes from solitude. They are solitary birds, typically traveling alone, although they may congregate in loose groups during the breeding season. Their long legs enable them to navigate the deeper waters, indicating their depth of character. Here in Austin, Texas, we find them along the shores of Lady Bird Lake, the Colorado River, and other waterways. Herons are important indicators of the health of local wetland ecosystems. Upon further reflection, herons serve as symbols of our wild sides, with a natural longing to be free. Meanwhile, the "Yellow Rose of Texas" also appears in this painting.
