About The Artwork

Every single day, I would timidly check in with my body, as if it was a stranger I couldn't fully trust. The constant barrage of society's unrealistic beauty standards and the shaming of my own body had become ingrained in me since I was just 12 years old. It all started with a seductive Calvin Klein ad featuring Brooke Shields, urging me to battle against my own flesh in order to gain social acceptance. From that moment on, my daily routine revolved around harsh weigh-ins, obsessively monitoring food intake, and subjecting myself to starvation days. My secret rituals included weighing every morsel of food before consumption, hiding them from friends and family. For over three decades, my body has been trapped in a never-ending cycle of restriction and punishment, always striving for the impossible goal of being "100 pounds," or what I referred to as "invisibility" - because in this world, thinness equates to success and desirability. But now, as I pour my thoughts into journal entries filled with digital sketches, code, and symbols, I am actively healing from a lifetime of self-harm and mistreatment towards my own body. This special edition collection features meticulously printed and pressed pieces on Aluminum, each one completely unique and signed by the artist - myself. And with every purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to either National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) or YWCA USA - two vital organizations dedicated to empowering individuals to heal and overcome the toxic messages surrounding body image in our society. My intention with this collection is to heal, one step at a time - and hopefully inspire others to do the same through art and open conversation.
