ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My work is influenced by seemingly disparate sources. From Indian minatures tto the paintings of De Kooning Diebenkorn and Matisse. I attempt to depict a vast sense of sky or space that I absorbed from growing up in the western part of the midwest. I hope people will take away something pleasant or funny. I also feel that these monoprints are somwhat bittersweet in that they possibbly reflect the transitory nature of life.

I grew up in Midwest and I believe the wide open spaces played a part in my overall sense of composition and color and light. My work is rooted in these landscapes, along with a certain sense of melancholy and a guiding sense of abstraction. My background painting landscape evolved into my current abstract work as well as a sense of the drama from memories in my life. These appear in my digital monoprints and collages.
