Inside a sun Artwork

I was born in Belgrade in 1976. I has been painting since my early youth and together with the architectural profession I have 20 years of artistic creation behind me. I developed my artistic expression through drawing, painting, graphics, collage, watercolor and various combined techniques. Contemporary themes and motives, current social and sociological problems, critique of society as well as classical art forms are not what interests me. I seeks inspiration in timeless values and symbols, metaphysical themes and universal issues. A strong symbolic-emotional dimension, emphasized through reduced color and abstract form, penetrates the observer into the deepest pages of his subconscious. I trie to uncompromisingly and sincerely bring to the surface the image from the most remote parts of my subconscious and encourage the observer to activate his imagination, intuition and instinct. My artistic expression is free from tradition, academism, directions and trends. According to my images, all you have to do is be honest and open at least as much as I am honest and open to you and allow your subconscious to experience them with all the messages of the ‘other side’ that they carry. Those are the words of my art teacher from one of my art shows. ‘Uroš Tomašević's paintings are works of combined techniques, of reduced color. The abstract form carries associative motifs of nature, planets and the cosmos, in which texture seems to dominate. Whether they are circular shapes, reminiscent of planets or geometric, the stroke of the brush remains visible, fast and azure, while using other artistic elements, especially the line. It contrasts precisely geometrically with the plane freely colored. It touches a line with a soft texture, a taut line with a free color frame. In this opposition of the precise geometric and the informal, everything exists in perfect harmony, as a unity of opposites, light and darkness, and sharp, fullness and emptiness. The moon, as a symbol, is associated with the unconscious, the emotional. That subtle radiance encourages the repressed, carrying the messages of the supersensible. '
