ABOUT THE ARTWORK

To punish naughty students at school, it was customary to send them "to the corner" or "to the picket", standing, facing the wall, turning their backs to the rest of the class. This is how the female model of this triptych poses, but there is neither wall nor class, so it was possible to turn around her. This is what was done, and the punished model is shown from three different and simultaneous angles, as if a sculpture had been unrolled to capture several sides at the same time, in one single look. Since the panels are not attached together, they can be hung separately. This triptych is a unique piece in three panels produced in a mixed technique on canvas combining photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (multiple transparent glazes which give a lacquered effect and squares in relief). The work is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 126 x 46 x 3.5 cm for the two side panels and 126 x 56 x 3.5 for the central panel)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
