Lei (She) Artwork

Drawing time on layers and layers of newspapers that sink the chronicle into the past and deeper into history, pasted in turn by the rush of life. In the constant postponement of deepening - the life and flavour of the moment - the glue of oblivion ripples the sheets even as the artist tries to see the path of a straight line, of a shade of colour: it accompanies the now mechanical work of the printer. I sharpen my pencil, I try to bend its path to the tortuosity of the intestinal folds of editorials, financial pages, politics, customs. I find memories and surprises: mendacious promises, mostly, now forgotten and overlapping. On this layer, the one closest to the memory of the present, I draw my fantasies of Time tracing itself over Time Past and Lost: wasted memories, urgent images, material inherited from years and that I no longer want to leave untold.
