May takes place with the greeting of swallows, the flourish of peonies and the awakening of koi pond. Even though I live in Europe I could still sense the common ground between the eastern and western culture which are united by the mother nature: water is life, swallows bring good luck, the peonies symbolise prosperity, love and honor. In creating this piece, I blended acrylics, oils, and pastels, with touches of collage, which I painted by myself with India ink, crafting a texture-rich scene that bridges the warm and blurry memories of a traditional Chinese courtyard and the beauty of peonies. I used my own Chinese traditional paintings as collage materials and combined with acrylics for the background, which provide texture, depth and add loose, nostalgic atmosphere to the painting. Peonies are painted with oil, which brings richness to the color. This painting has a semi-gloss finish. Ready to hang. Canvas will be sent on a wooden stretcher, and the sides are painted.
