ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork belongs to a small series of 5 pieces entitled "Il Sole è cieco", i.e. "The Sun is blind". As we can see in this small piece, the two figures are holding hands, one in front of the other, against a fairly dark background. No visible face, just two heads that seem connected to each other by a sheet of stone which suggests that love is blind and constitutes a link as vital as it is indestructible, especially when walking in the night (“notte” in Italian) of uncertainty. The title in Italian is in homage to the writer Curzio Malaparte who wrote "Il Sole è cieco". This paintography is a one-of-a-kind artwork made in mixed media on canvas. It combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting, with numerous squares made in golden relief on the surface of the canvas. The painting is framed in black (total dimensions: approximately 85 x 85 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
