Thierry Funck – Artist Biography My name is Thierry Funck, born on July 20, 1974 in Luxembourg, and I currently live and create in Prague, Czech Republic. I am a self-taught artist with a deep, lifelong connection to creativity. Art has fascinated me since childhood — drawing was my first language of expression. However, when I was just 15, I lost my father. That painful experience silenced my inspiration and distanced me from the artistic path I had instinctively followed. In the years that followed, I explored other professions, but none brought real fulfillment. I carried a quiet emptiness, a sense that something essential was missing. In 2018, after the passing of my mother, who suffered from dementia, something profound shifted inside me. Standing at her funeral, I felt a deep presence — almost like a voice — saying: “You were born to be an artist. So do what you were born to do.” That moment changed everything. It reawakened the passion I had buried for so long and gave me the strength and clarity to pursue what had always been in me. Since then, I have devoted myself fully to creating art — with all my heart and soul. Every piece I make is a reflection of that journey: loss, rediscovery, healing, and purpose.
