Painted Peaks Artwork

My artwork is a summation of my interest in textile and material experimentation as a way of creating stories of Colombian mountain landscapes. It all started after living in Bogota, surrounded by the Andes range; my relationship with landscapes has always been with the mountain. In fact, during the first stages of my work, I was creating mountains on different mediums for no reason, with no story behind them, just to want to make them. It took me some time to realize there was something behind this way of expressing myself. First, I realized that unconsciously they represent my pursuit of freedom and wonder. Then, starting from this quest, I began to dig in on what they mean visually and as an ecosystem. Then I understood that mountains are powerful forces to reckon with and a source of inspiration. Still, we also need to start seeing them from a different perspective than just an incredible landscape.
