In this series of mixed-media paintings, photographs are taken from a variety of life events and printed on paper or canvas and then torn or cut. They are combined with paint, glitter, foil, paper, metal leaf, confetti and beads in liquefied emulsions that overflow and erupt from wood panels. The application of materials on the photographs is done intuitively over multiple sessions to allow each layer to dry before the next layer is added. When complete, often only a breath of the original photograph(s) is visible. Due to the multiple layers, it takes over a month to create each painting in this series. This painting is a dynamic and textured mixed-media piece, featuring a warm color palette dominated by oranges, greens, yellows, and golds. The composition is filled with swirling patterns and abstract forms, with glitter and beads adding depth and dimension. The glitter is applied in thick layers, creating shimmering, vine-like shapes that weave across the canvas. Beads in various colors are embedded within these glitter patterns, contributing to the three-dimensional effect. The background has a gradient of warm colors, transitioning from vibrant oranges and yellows to deeper reds and greens. The interplay of light and dark areas creates a sense of depth, making the forms appear as though they are floating or emerging from the background. The materials in this painting are: acrylic paint and medium, archival pigment print, glitter paper, foil paper, paper, spray paint, beads, rhinestones and glitter on wood panel.
