About The Artwork

The artist Prince first hit the music scene in 1978 with his debut album, "For You." While the album didn't produce any hits, it paved the way for the genius that he would eventually become. The 1979 album "Prince" gave us his first real hit with "I Wanna Be Your Lover", it wasn't until his 1982 album, "1999" that he started to become a mega star. Prince's iconic "Purple Rain" was to follow and the music world was never the same. With "Prince NYC", Jason Prinzo is attempting to turn back the clock to the streets of New York City in the 1970's

Originally from Cincinnati, OH and now based in Chicago, IL, Jason Prinzo has spent the last several years honing his technique with a focus on street and pop art while continuing to experiment with mixed media. Self taught as a way to combat anxiety and depression, Jason's desire to express emotions through visual art, quickly turned into an obsession to constantly create. Rarely sticking to one particular style, Jason experiments with different concepts and mediums in what he calls a "jam session" style of working. With this design style, Prinzo admits he never knows where each painting will take him and work constantly changes direction as each new layer is added until he feels each piece is complete.
