Amanda Jane emerged as an artist just 4 years ago. After a near-fatal car accident, Amanda spent 3 months in hospital. She suffered from a fractured arm, pelvis, jaw and both legs. Following her physical recovery, she was left with severe depression and memory loss. A lengthy period of rehabilitation followed. As her recovery continued, Amanda began to rediscover her creative muse and channeled her artistic skills by creating unique sculptures that exploded with a myriad of colours. Her creations became therapy for her ongoing post-traumatic-stress disorder. Amanda saw the sculptures as her ‘Furry Anti-Depressants'. Her works received such positive responses, people were keen to purchase these bespoke pieces. This led to an exhibition of her work along with several other established artists at the Vivid Gallery in Surry Hills, in 2019. Amanda sold five of her sculptures at the exhibition. One of her most ambitious pieces was bought by Heath Johns (CEO BMG Music) at the outset of the show. Following the success of the Vivid exhibition, Amanda was invited to exhibit her first solo show at the iconic Bondi Pavilion Gallery. Again, the exhibition was extremely popular throughout its two-week run and one of her pieces found a new home in the USA Amanda Baby Pie is well known around her Bondi Beach neighbourhood through the mini exhibitions she holds in the porch and hallway of her apartment ably assisted by her Yorkshire Terrier, Dudley who is also Amanda’s PTSD Service Dog, Amanda was also a finalist in the ‘Wollombi Sculpture in The Vineyards’ artist competition and her piece titled ‘Spot on the Naughty Chair’ sold for an impressive price. Amanda did not formally study art but has always undertaken the interior design of her home and her own sense of style with confidence that expresses her individuality. Amanda Jane aka Baby Pie is still surprised and delighted at the happiness and joy her creations bring to people.
