ABOUT THE ARTWORK
inspired by the brutalist Architectural movement and the pottery of Troika, I wanted to create something large and architectural. I choose a canvas base and created geometric shapes using thick card placing them to make an assembly of shapes. I then rendered the whole canvas with a cement based product to create a three dimensional textured Finish. This provided the base for finishing with acrylic paints to provide this unique style. The bold colours work well as a statement piece. Viewers can read into the shapes to find their own meanings and symbolism.
