About The Artwork

My name is Fiona Fraser, I'm from Nottingham, UK but I have lived in Hertfordshire most of my adult life. I sign my work under the same name. I find inspiration for my art in many places and have travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and Europe which has influenced my creative style and process. I create art because I love to see the ideas that buzz in my head and develop in my dreams appear in front of me in colour for others to see and enjoy. I specialize in acrylic, water colour and pastel and I focus mainly on Animals. More recently I have also enjoyed working with spray paint as graffiti art. My art style is contemporary/modern/pop art. I am motivated by Family, Music and Travel. I've been creating art for 30 years. My favourite artists are Picasso, Patrice Murciano, Mr Brainwash and Banksy because I find their work to be thought provoking and edgy! I connect with the art community by subscribing to Art Gallery newsletters, entering competitions and visiting galleries. As an artist just starting out my work hasn’t been shown anywhere yet. However, a local gallery has recently shown interest in exhibiting my work as well as a gallery based in Shoreditch, London. So, I am starting to build my audience. When people see my work, I hope they experience inspiration , intrigue and a love of life and expression.

At school I took GCSE & A’Level Art, obtaining A grades for both. I studied mainly landscapes and towns scapes for my personal study but always had an interest in illustration and studied children’s illustrators too. After leaving school I chose to take the physical education route which was also a love of mine. After teaching PE in Secondary for 14 years and having 2 children of my own, I moved into primary teaching. I have often returned to my art as a way of relaxing and staying sane! However, due to lockdown I had more time to actually spend on my art and have taken on a whole different style. The influences of being “locked in” brought out my inner wild side and urge to break out. So I channeled my love of wild animals. My love of Banksy encouraged the graffiti angle in my art as I learnt to use spray paint and embrace its effects. I also have a keen interest in the style of the artist Patrice Murciano. I decided to try to recreate one of his pieces and that’s where it began. The piece still hangs in my house today. Back in my school days I always wanted to experiment with Pop Art so in Lockdown #3 I played around with this style too. Now it seems I have a definite “new” style and personally I love it and I hope other do too!
