ABOUT THE ARTWORK
To be truly intimate with another, we must learn how to be intimate with ourselves. This is the idea around which I build my new series, combining an experimental approach in traditional Chinese woodblock printing with free expressive drawing in ink, later enriched with watercolours or pencil. Inspired by the pulse of Porto, the melody of that lively Atlantic coast, I look for sensual shapes in abstract prints, which help those to become visible and present, woven into soft Chinese handmade paper… The beautiful network of intricate lines of the balustrade of the balcony give me the opportunity to enjoy drawing a little longer, and only enhance what is feminine, sensual, wild, and at the same time tender. Colourful ceramics, famous Portuguese tiles remain as a brushstroke that brings balance, harmony or emphasis rounding off the pure aesthetic experience of the whole.
