"Stele as signposts 008" Artwork

Short description / Steles by Lennart Erschler Lennart Erschler shows a series of tall, narrow objects on canvas, a work as an art project "Stele as signposts". for which a series (108 in total) of steles more than two meters high are to be artistically created over the next few years. Steles have always served as signposts to describe geographical, geological or cultural situations. The formal structure of the steles corresponds to the consecrated pillars or posts in many ancient cultures: The monochrome background, in the case of these works in materially applied earth colors, is broken up at human eye level and designed through a kind of window with informal content. Lennart Erschler works on the surface design of the work with the help of different materials. For example, parts of old wall remains or rubble stones are often designed as a wall bond, which are immediately expressed through the inclusion of real things such as stones, pieces of metal, hemp cords, wood and symbolic shapes made of marble powder.
