About The Artwork

This is a digital painting, printed using 200+ year archival ink on museum-quality, acid free rag paper. It comes unframed, shipped rolled in a tube, signed as a limited edition. The actual printed image is 32" x 32" on a total paper size of 36" x 36". Although I am known for my large mixed media paintings, my physical practice originates in a digital space. I’ve been using digital tools to draw and sketch out compositions and manipulate photographic images for the past decade and the finished digital pieces can stand on their own as artworks. My work has its roots in the NYC of the late 1970s and 1980s and I’ve always collected magazines, posters, records and ephemera associated with growing up in the Brooklyn projects and the East Village. All of these physical memorabilia I have subsequently digitized and, together with my own digital photography and images appropriated from the web, created a visual vocabulary that I use in my digital and mixed media works.
