ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work belongs to a series of paintings focussing on transhumanism, as a philosophy and project aimed at increasing the human being and making it a kind of ultra-sophisticated machine that can be improved and repaired as many times as needed. Taken to its limit, this philosophy postulates the end of sexual reproduction, and one can imagine a way of breeding, giving birth ex utero, entirely carried out in a laboratory. From then on, a man could "carry a child", in a sort of self-begetting or autonomous perpetuation, of his own kind: sui generis. This artwork is produced in mixed media on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (transparent glazes and raised squares). This is a unique piece. It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 86 x 71 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
