About The Artwork

Sunken Infinity, (the original Italian title is: Infinito Sommerso) is inspired by the bipolar experience of a person who is very dear to me.It depicts both the exuberance and exaltation of his manic days, as well as the melancholic depth and anguish of his depression, two contradictory forces that act on his psyche and soul, imbuing his experience of life, exalting or inhibiting his physical and mental energies, in an alternation of darkness and light, euphoria and extreme melancholy. These contrasting forces to a lesser extent can be found in the existence of every human being, that is why I have also tried to depict my own inner travail and our constant quest for stability and balance, a struggle within ourselves that in my friend is magnified by his bipolar condition.

I am an Italian artist and illustrator. My works depict a world in which reality is represented through metaphorical and psychological images. My interest is focused on issues related to the psyche. I'm interested in feelings, emotions and troubles of the soul. My subjects show a fragile humanity, not out of inner weakness but out of a natural vocation. The use of vibrant colors and bold contrasts, alongside the mélange of various media, enable me to create a complex world where reality coexists with metaphorical elements, the surreal and psychological; a world that can be interpreted in a variety of levels. I work on paper, cardboard and canvas using mixed media: monotype, collage, graphite, acrylic, pastels, grattage. Environmental problems are a topic that I hold dear and all my artistic production develops around the idea of recovering and recycling poor and discarded materials. I find inspiration in paper as a material, and I use discarded magazines, clippings of my drawings or monotypes, old printed papers and envelopes.
