About The Artwork
Tahquitz Canyon is one of the most beautiful and culturally sensitive areas of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation. Tahquitz Canyon is home to a spectacular seasonal 60-foot waterfall, Tahquitz Falls, that I have depicted in this painting from several reference pictures. There were a couple of mysterious features present in all of the images that I aimed to capture in my painting- two faces, two triangles, a scorpion and a smiley face. Can't find them all? As the collector, you can run a blue/UV light over the painting and they will reveal themselves to you. I also used an experimental material for the waterfall so that it captures and reflects the light. I also use different sheens of varnish throughout to properly represent the various sheens seen in nature.
