About The Artwork

Taro patch (Loʻi in the Hawaiian language) at Hawaii's Plantation Village. Historically Taro, or Kalo (in Hawaiian) was a staple in the Hawaiian diet, and Loʻi, or taro patches, could be found throughout all of the Hawaiian Islands. Though today taro patches are not nearly as common as they once were, taro is still a popular food in Hawaii, and is slowly making a come back. Rob Kajiwara is a native Ryukyuan / Hawaiian. He signs his Hawaiiana artwork with his Hawaiian name, Lopaka.
