ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Chariot represents will power and triumph over obstacles. It is as a sign of encouragement. You have set your objectives and are now channeling your inner power, commitment, with a fierce determination to bring them to achieve your goals. It symbolises a journey of determination and hard work. And calls you to assert yourself and be courageous. Be bold in expressing your desires and laying down your boundaries. You need to have faith in yourself and know fundamentally who you are and what you stand for. This piece was inspired by The Ladies of Chariots, James Tissot (1883-1885) This original is part of the “Silence” Collection.

I am a London based mixed media collagist who grew up in Brazil. Having lived in Switzerland, London, and Mexico, I have always been an explorer: a collector of small treasures, textures, and experiences. Beginning my work in the fashion world, I am specialised in trend research, with experience working with European and Brazilian designers. I have always been inspired with the powerful feminine haute couture in fashion. The restless nature of fashion led me to make poetry with my own hands, pieces of different materials became her purest expression. The lightness with which my work perceives the world made me understand that being in love with something has diverse meanings, from absolute enthusiasm to deepest pain. My intense connection to paper makes it my most incandescent platform of transformation. My connection with paper can be immediately perceived from my first piece. Without a canvas, a cardboard box was the base. Currently, I work with intricate manual collages, a mix of materials. Mixing elements such as paper, wood, watercolour, ink, acrylic, gold leaf, fabrics, dried leaves, mosses, pieces of trees and stones. I hope my pieces reflect the world - a Brazilian touch, a Mexican vibe, and a worldly view. My work has the ability to transport viewers into a playful world of colours and textures with my collage. The varying interpretations of my work speak for themselves, with viewers becoming enveloped in the stories they tell, each story is always different. I explore the world and use materials from nature, such as discarded wood. Here, I am able to reuse and transform, embracing each material and thus giving them new life.
