About The Artwork

The Journey holds a name symbolic of not only the many iterations this painting went through in order to get to its final representation, but also a clue as to how this abstract acrylic with ink, and conte crayon painting comes to life in augmented reality. From a solar flare to a lava pit, a cloudy blue sky to a dark urban landscape, each layer of this painting is part of the fabric of our universe. Which inspired wonder about other parts of the universe, like the Milky Way, and UFOs. The augmented reality experience begins with an original audio composition written and recorded by Josh Preston. Eerie synthesizers and contrasting chimes ring out as the milky way slides though the sky. Soon a UFO enters the painting and flies toward the center of the painting. It is followed by another and another. Viewing the augmented reality is as simple as downloading the Artivive app, a free camera app and viewing the artwork through the app.

Lisa Reed Preston is a self-taught artist who embraces the beauty of abstraction and interprets it through her fine art paintings, augmented reality paintings, and virtual reality art experiences. Growing up a military child and oldest of 4, Lisa spent much of her youth moving and adapting to new environments. At the age of 11, she won her first art contest. For years, Lisa lost focus on her childhood passion as the challenges and practicality of life replaced youthful whimsy. Upon moving to the Nashville area, she rediscovered her passion for creativity and became part of the Plowhaus Artist Co-Op. Most recently, Lisa participated in Nashville Arts and Business Council’s Periscope 2022 class, showed her augmented reality fine art paintings at Artclectic! Nashville, TN, and was featured on the popular Nashville billboard as the Artist of the Week. Lisa’s varied life experiences continued as an audio engineer, graphic designer, STEM and robotics teacher, and data analyst provide her with an enthusiasm for problem solving and experimentation. For the last 18 years, Lisa has resided with her husband in Bellevue, TN.
