About The Artwork

"The Stool" is a work that belongs to a series of 17 paintings devoted to dance. Here, the ballerina is dressed in a modern way, she adopts a pose that combines balance and tension, in a duet with the high stool which serves as her partner and which gives the painting its title. The painting is made in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glossy lacquered glazes and raised squares); it is a unique piece and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is signed both on the front (at the top of the stool) and on the back of the canvas, which is framed in black (total dimensions approx. 81 x 56 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
