While this emerged out of my Tropica series of digital images, this work reminded me more of the wind section of an orchestra. The undulating movement also suggests musical rhythms. Who knows? Maybe they are performing in the rain forest?

Welcome to my world of Fractal Art. In a nutshell, fractals are images which are self-perpetuating. The overall pattern spawns its own shape ad infinitum. Fractals are found in nature (think leaf veins, branching tree limbs, a rose spiraling inward), as well as in the abstract domain. A limitless variety of designs, colors, and shapes are possible. The software I use is aptly called “Chaotica.” I start with randomly generated chaotic shapes and patterns, and then form them into a pleasing design, mimicking the perfection of the evolutionary processes within the natural world. For years, I have painted with watercolor. I like to think of these new creations as Digital Watercolor. Like watercolor, I can achieve fluidity, transparency, and multi-dimensional effects. Unlike watercolor, however, computerization allows for any design to be easily and quickly customized in a new color palette if you wish. You never know where the initial “primal soup” will take you and that is the exciting part of working with this new digital-age medium. www.susannemcginnis.com email: firstname.lastname@example.org
