About The Artwork

“Tupelo Honey” is part of a larger portfolio, “See What I Hear”, of illustrations based on song lyrics. The song “Tupelo Honey” by Van Morrison was written for his wife, Janet. Tupelo honey comes from the flower of the Tupelo Tree which is found in the swamps of the Southern United State. In addition to talking about the sweetness of the honey, the song references freedom. First with a reference to the Boston Tea Party, ““You can take all the tea in China / Put it in a big brown bag for me / Sail right around all the seven oceans / Drop it straight into the deep blue sea”; and then to the Irish troubles that were raging at the time the song was written, “You can't stop us on the road to freedom / You can't stop us 'cause our eyes can see.”The image size is 12 x 12 in. with a 2 in. boarder. The paper size is 16 x 16 in. The giclee print is numbered and signed in the boarder below the image
