Chatterings, squawking, and swishes. That’s how I remember the place I used to play in the mountains. Our converted dairy farm in McDonald Valley with galas, kookaburras, and cicadas made life always full of noise. My Sydney city epoch was the same but different, with white-smoked days at the Enmore loft studio with the honeyeaters, minor birds, and plane-bus-car noise. Now I’ve returned to the country, the Watagan mountains, to see the animals and plants I love first-hand. With them, I fill the wood’s tangled face with wax-full Luminance pencil marks to brighten and novelise the everyday nature that speaks to me, with Australian flora & fauna tapestries.
