New Media: Pencil on Wood.
Wax penciling these native scribbles my mind continued to roam and ponder on what to do with and how to do Australia Day that’s quickly approaching?’ I’d just finished Stan Grant’s ‘Australia Day’ and was now delving into one he quoted from - ‘Dancing with Strangers’ by Ingna Clendinnen.
In her book she recounts the moment in January 1788 when the First Fleet arrives in Sydney Harbour and a thousand British men and women encounter the Australians living there. Here, quotes a British observer after landfall, “these people mixed with ours and all hands danced together.”
