ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I started the serie "1001 wars" in 2004, while reading the "One Thousand and One Nights" book, and listening at the radio the sounds of war in Irak. "Bagdad, quiet city" described in the book, seems to be far away ... Sadly, in 2015, the war was still there, even spreading in close countries like Syria. With the same feeling, but some more years of practices, I restarted this work. And I still continued in 2018.

Born in 1968, J.M. Ortholand has been drawing and painting, especially, since 2005, at the Ecole Supérieure d'Arts of Grenoble, France. But not only : in his garage, in the metro, but also on the wall of his house, when his wife asks him, kindly and insistently. He likes border-line characters and animals, urban landscapes, trying to tell a story, and drinking wine with friends. This doesn't improve neither the health of his liver, nor the quality of his painting or the global warming.
