My work deals with transcendence. In 1988 I experienced a powerful breakthrough in perception. During that time I was working in a postmodern vein on a small acrylic canvas playfully titled "Understanding Understatement". Contact us.I was born in Poland. During my childhood I drew and painted a lot and at the age of 14 I decided to dedicate my life to art. I lived and worked in Warsaw,( Poland -19 years), London, (England - 1.5 years), Amsterdam, (Netherlands - 5 years), Paris, (France - 1 year) Norfolk, Virginia (U.S - 2 years.), Los Angeles, California,(U.S - 10 years), Maui, Hawaii (U.S - 2 years.), Reno, Nevada (U.S. -12 years), Anchorage, Alaska,(U.S. - 5 years). I mention my travels because my artistic development is connected with my background and places where I've lived. I live currently in Reno, Nevada where I have my permanent art studio. I started painting in a surrealist style, then abstract expressionist, sometimes with figurative elements. In Paris I met and I got influenced by a post-modern German group from Cologne, Neue Wilden and started my neo-expressionist style, which sometimes became also abstract or had surrealistic elements. Over the years I had many one person shows and participated in many group shows. I signed my paintings with my grand mother's maiden name (Malewicz), which I used until 2003. After 17 years of intense work I experienced a powerful breakthrough and since then my work has been non-objective. I was gaining recognition in L.A. when I left to Hawaii in 1992.
I paint with oil paint on canvas.
