About The Artwork

Inspired by Andy Warhol's 'Death and Disaster'-series I made this painting of myself taking in a scene of Dutch riot police molesting a protestor in the Hague on march 14 last year. The protestor got hit multiple times on the head and was mauled several times by a police dog. The UN's special rapporteur on torture Nils Melzer described the scene as 'one of the most disgusting scenes of police brutality I have seen since George Floyd'. Unfortunately this scene is not a stand-alone incident. Police has used a water-canon on a woman's head which slammed her into a concrete wall, protestors were trampled by police horses and even thrown under a police van. I've even seen footage of a policeman taking a wheelchair from an elderly lady. A teenager got punched in the face with bare hands by a policeman. Undercover agents (so called Romeo's or agent-provacateurs) were used to start riots themselves so the riot police had a reason to intervene. All of this is bad, very bad.

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

I create colorful and highly detailed works of art to express my love for the modern human as well as my concerns about contemporary society. My hyperreal paintings are based on photographs I took during long walks through my hometown and major cities. Paintings show people on the streets, in stores, public transport and museums or zoom in on popular products. To me these glimpses of everyday live are important as they say a whole lot about todays society. They show the way people act, communicate or are influenced by modern developments in various ways. I observe it, enlarge it and paint it. That way I freeze time and our fast and busy lives are forever captured in a moment. Finally ready to be observed quietly. About me: I'm an international recognized artist for over 20 years well known for his own style of realism painting. My art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (6 continents, 30 countries). In 2018 I showed his works alongside Warhol, Haring, Banksy and others at a group show at his art dealer in France. I live and work in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.
