ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Many of my Crows are influenced by characteristics or personalities of past clients I worked with as a jeweler. 1950’s Pink has a short and sweet story: She was old fashioned and feminine - always dressed in pink. And she was lovely. I knew I had to get the background juuuust the right shade of pink - I’ll admit, I thought I had it. I didn’t. It was pure bubble gum pink. It was so bad I kinda liked it - but the whole darn thing just HAD to be repainted. After what seemed like HOURSZZzzz of mixing paint, I finally landed on the perfect pink - 1950’s Pink - A pink that takes you back. Not only do I adore the vintage pink in a current stylish setting, I am really enjoying taking old frames and reviving them with a modern and fresh vibe by incorporating it right into the painting - blurring the line between canvas and frame. What’s old is new again! One of my signatures is incorporating jewelry with the crow. But this time she just seemed perfect in her natural beauty surrounded by spring blooms and a rosy haze - can you smell her floral perfume??

I graduated from Colorado State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a concentration in metalsmithing and jewelry. Following my education, I promptly moved back to Dallas to start my career as a custom fine jeweler for a local elite designer. After eleven years of honing my craft, I felt the need to switch my focus and go after a life long dream of becoming a studio artist. By blending my jewelry career with early childhood experiences of being raised by parents that embraced nature and creativity, I have created a distinct style all my own. I primarily paint with oil on canvas to create bold and eye catching gem encrusted paintings.
