. My paintings are abstract, expressionist and organic. I search for colour chords, interaction and compositions that draws me in and starts having an energy of its own. In the process I move between contrasts like: complex-simple, light-dark, cold-warm, movement-stillness and so on. Painting is always a mix between improvising and following the impulses as well as working with the conscious knowledge and skill aquired through years of studies and various creative projects. I have gone a long way from the sheer joy of making marks with crayons to carefully observing and depicting the world around me, to where I am today, starting with an empty surface and trying to be as open as possible and see what happens. I grew up in the north of Sweden and have studied art for two years at Umeå Konstskola and have taken several classes at Gerlesborg Konstskola on the west coast and other art schools in Stockholm. I have a degree of master of architecture from KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and have worked with that for a few years. I was never convinced though that architecture was my way and looked for alternatives and studied theatre stage design for a year at Central School of Speech and Drama in London and another year of creative writing at Södertörns Högskola in Stockholm. Throughout my life and all of these creative studies and projects, drawing and painting has always been the channel closest to my heart, where I experience the most creative freedom, curiousity and continous search for development. Since 2005 painting has been my focus and I have done solo exhibitions and taken part in several juried exhibitions in Stockholm where I live. I draw a lot of inspiration from nature. On all levels from just enjoying a walk in the woods to searching for the abstract qualities, whether its looking at pictures from outer space or watching the miniscule forms of life around me through the macro lens of my camera. I just like to watch the world around me and feel whatever is going on inside. All becomes part of the painting process. Other sources of inspiration are music, dance, film and literature, and of course the whole world of art. I love visiting new museums and revisiting old favourites, feeling touched by artists from history to the present day. Andrea del Sarto, Turner, Käthe Kollwitz, Paul Klee, Per Kirkeby, and Anish Kapoor are just a few of the ones that can touch me.
