HIS POSTPONED DEPARTURE. The cause which led to the appearance of Dennis Reardon in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday was that he Was discovered by a constable in Majoribanks street on Saturday night knocking people’s hats off and amusing himself similarly in other directions. When arrested Reardon, unfortunately for himself, resisted, used obscene language, and hopelessly damaged a constable’s helmet, so that when he was eventually taken, handcuffed and breathless, in an express to the police station it was to have three charges preferred against him. .... Reardon was, furthermore, described by Sub-Inspector Mackinnon in court yesterday as being a "thorough blackguard.” "I will leave the town, indeed I will, if you give me the chance,” exclaimed Reardon penitently as the Bench was about to sentence him. "I said I would do the same when I was in Auckland some time ago, and left there the next day,”
