Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Spray Paint on Other.

Eighth painting in the staircase series. The stair case is only ever used for it's practical purpose for slim portion of its existence, the rest of the time is a regimented sculpture standing boldly within its surroundings. A symbol of temporality and significance..

I start painting the staircase without to much thought to the final out come, the surreal additions present themselves as ideas along the way, matching the essence and feel of the staircase.

Here, featuring a family of skeletons, Mother and Father close in a romantic embrace whilst the youth hang on the right. Although the scene could be considered decayed and filled with reminders of mortality, it carries a comedic twist in the messages in the graffiti.

Bringing a touch of the inner city to a classical setting. When travelling through cities you can't fail to notice the graffiti blanketing the walls. This gives a sense that the walls are alive. The graffiti is evidence of people with ideas, opinions and creativity. Whether you like it or not. It's there and brings the walls to life.
Painted in acrylic and enamel on linen.
