ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This series was created during the beginning of the pandemic. Each face and correlating color was a reflection of my mood as the days of quarantine slowly began to blur together. This is 824, a tribute to Kobe. As a kid growing up, Kobe was the embodiment of greatness. It could easily be said that he was one of the greatest competitors the world had ever seen. So much so that his mentality, the mamba mentality, became a lifestyle. Constantly striving for greatness on and off the court, Kobe showed the world what it meant and took to have the mamba mentality. This piece is a tribute to not only one of the greatness players in NBA history...but to a great mentor, role model, girl dad, and game changer. We love you and miss you Kobe, 824 forever.

William Toliver is a self-taught contemporary artist currently living in Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Always having an interest in art as a young child, it was not until 2012 that he began to work on his skills. While working primarily with acrylics and graphite, his take on timeless subject matter features vivid colors and intricate details that create one of a kind masterpieces. Toliver contributes much of his inspiration to finding beauty in the simplicity of life, and the moments caught between camera flashes along with the artistic inspirations of Sandra Chevrier, Peter Terrin, Kehinde Wiley, Roy Lichtenstein, Salvador Dali, and Andy Warhol.
