"Jamika had brought her friend Foluke to Rerinia, but it had not been smooth sailing. Foluke had been hesitant and reluctant to perform every single activity that was required for a proper Transition to their Higher Selves. Jamika had been to Rerinia years before, but after the murder of her husband at the hands of the police on Earth, she needed to escape. Foluke had recently left an abusive relationship so Jamika has invited her to come with her and promised it would be worth her while. After asking the Mother for guidance on how to help Foluke open up to healing, the idea was born in her mind to perform the Ceremony of Vulnerability. Jamika took Foluke to the Garden of the Breeze and began to disrobe and told Foluke she needed to do the same. Reluctantly, Foluke removed her clothes and immediately the Gentle Breeze wrapped herself around Foluke and at once she was filled with peace. Jamika walked over to Foluke and placed her head on her shoulder. She told her softly, 'As a sister who had previously Transitioned, I will not let any harm come to you and we will stay in Rerinia for as long as is necessary for you to truly feel Lighter'." Salami's works are in a modern day surrealist style, giving the viewer the sense of an alternate universe. René Magritte with soul. Abi positions her female African American subjects in a distant realm where one can heal and grow, safe from societal pressures. Her pleasing pastels calms the mind and body while she speaks about heavy subjects such as mental health & rehabilitation not often addressed in her culture. Her works show us the power of healing while simultaneously celebrating Black Joy.
