The ocean on a rainy day is what inspired me to paint this. I hoped to create an atmospheric perspective lending to a reflective, meditative mood that a rainy day can bring.

Gina Haining is an artist born in the industrial steel town of Gary, Indiana. After earning a degree in journalism from Indiana University, she moved to the West Coast in pursuit of adventure, self-discovery, and artistic exploration. A lifelong learner, Gina privately studied acting, painting, and meditation. “My current paintings are mostly minimal abstract landscapes made from many layers of textures and color. I find the process of painting calming and meditative. There are so many distractions in the world today vying for one’s attention – an overload of visual impressions and distractions, it’s easy to get caught up. I hope to create a place to rest one’s eyes and find space just to be, float around, and release the mind, as I do when I create a piece. I find abstraction curious because one painting can have various meanings to different people, depending on their state of mind, which I find very intriguing.” Gina’s paintings have homes in Europe and the United States. She lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband Mark, son Hudson, and labradoodle, Alfred.
